I don’t work with seniors very often, but when I do – I love it! It’s such a complete difference from my usual crazy (adorable) tiny clients.

Looking through an old hard drive I came across this series from a session that I cannot believe I never blogged! On the farm black and whites – it doesn’t get any better than this.

Guys, I am so terrible at writing blog posts. I’m always so excited to share images from a session, but I never never know what to write! I’m just always at a loss. I’m also usually trying to write them with three little ones buzzing around me, climbing on me, asking questions, poking me, wanting something to eat, wanting me to play with them, wanting to play on my computer, etc. You know how it is.

So…what to say?

This is one of my favorite favorite favorite families! I love them to pieces! I have been photographing them every fall since their first little girl was born. I absolutely adore watching them grow from nervous new parents with a tiny sweet newborn to the confident, fun, loving, so sweet parents of two crazy little girls that they are today! They were one of the few families that I photographed this past fall. I put the breaks on my business big time when baby #3 was born. When Evan (our second) was born a few years ago, I didn’t take much time off from shooting at all. It really was so easy to work a photo shoot into our schedules back then, that I thought I could handle it. But the work goes far beyond just the few hours I spend at a session. I quickly became overwhelmed with going from a family of 3 to a family of 4 and then all the work required from the photo shoots I was doing. I was a crazy stressed out new mommy and nobody was happy. So I learned from that mistake and really took almost a year off more or less this time. I stopped shooting a few months before our sweet Brooklyn was born and am just now getting back to adding clients onto my calendar as she’s turning 9 months old.

I am so SO excited to be shooting again! It is my happy place. It is what relaxes me and helps me put the world into perspective. On Mother’s Day – a day when my family lets me do anything I want – I almost always end up picking up my camera and playing with my babies. My most favorite family moments almost always come from a time when we were just sitting around, being ourselves, and taking pictures. It’s my ‘thing’. So to be able to get out and get a little bit of ‘me’ back after being at home with a baby (and then a broken knee!) is pure bliss.

So if YOU would like to get on my schedule – please please get in touch with me! You can use the contact button above to shoot me a message. Let’s chat!

It just can’t be real.

It cannot be five years ago that my doctor was talking to us the day before my due date and giving us a decision to make. Baby boy was predicted to be pretty big – so he recommended we induce, but said we could wait for things to happen naturally if we wanted. 4 years earlier I was essentially induced with Hailey and I’ll spare you my indulgent birth horror story that us moms like to get into – but it was bad. It was long and bad and painful and complicated and long and so bad and so. friggin. long – we’re talking *more than* 32 hours folks. Induction was not something I would choose to do again. But if the doctor recommended it….? So we talked it over and decided to leave it in God’s hands. We felt pretty sure that He would give us a sign nudging us in the right direction.

So at 1 in the morning – on my due date – when my water broke…well, what better sign could you ask for? :). Baby #2 came into the world easier than his sister. It still took almost 20 hours, but so much easier than #1. Our little boy was born and has given us a run for our money every day since. Going from 1 baby to 2 was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But this kiddo has been my little buddy since day one and he has my entire heart wrapped around his finger.

Now at 5 years old, he is full of love and generosity and kindness and is so determined to be a little gentleman, always holding doors open and letting the girls go first. He’s rough and loud and gross and a ball of lightning energy and everything that little boys are supposed to be. I just can’t put into words how much we love this little guy and how grateful we are to get to raise him and have him as a brother to his sisters.

Happy FIFTH birthday Evan!!
